Aloha ʻOe, Oregon Big-Leaf Maple Driveway Tree – Chapter One

I have so many photos of this tree coming down that I’m not gonna try put them all in one post. Although really, how many photos and videos can I put up here without totally boring you to tears?  (“Oh yeah, another photo. It’s a tree. It’s getting cut down. So?”)  Well, I’ll start anyway. Tell me “pau awreddy!” if you’re bored.

This was our glorious tree last October.

Da Kine Numbah Four

So, I thought it’d be fun to do another da kine post, since the chances of me catching up are pretty nil.

This first photo shows a Comcast guy ‘way up on his ladder, reattaching a cable that had come down, thanks to the big maple tree in the middle of our driveway.  No way I’d climb up that high.

$$$ Ouch!

So today I was knitting on a sock while I got my car serviced. I also needed a new headlight. I thought I had LED ones and that it wouldn’t be a big deal, or a huge cost, to get it replaced. Wrong! Wrong to da max!  My car has HID lights. And just one of them was….are you ready? $250!!! Because it has the ballast already in it or something. I love how bright they are, but sheesh!! I hope the other one doesn’t go out soon. And on our dark country roads, having my headlight back is a good thing.

I used to change my own headlights. Simple. Buy the bulb. Open the hood. Take out the old bulb. Install the new one. Not any more.

But I knit on a sock while I was there and I didn’t have to wait too long; at least my socks don’t cost that much.

Finding Aloha Where You Least Expect It

So yesterday Nolemana had eye surgery at a surgery center near PDX.  It was minor surgery and ‘way easier than in a hospital setting. So I took along my knitting and worked on a ladybug sock while I waited in the waiting room:

Knitting Stuffs 2017

I haven’t posted anything about my knitting lately; here’s a few projects I’ve finished during 2017:

Simple socks, but I love them. I got this yarn at Apples to Oranges in Silverton; I love Mountain Colors Crazyfoot yarn. I also love fraternal socks.

I Admit It…

…I am not a morning person.  I see photos of gorgeous sunrises that others take, but I rarely see sunrises. Well, it doesn’t help that our place faces makai, so we see stunning sunsets, for which I’m very grateful.  As a matter of fact, when we first looked at this house prior to buying it, we were greeted by one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen…which helped to clinch the deal for us.

But yesterday I had to get up early, so was able to see some of yesterday’s lovely sunrise, which colored the sky across the valley.

And speaking of Olson’s red barn…it looked so peaceful there in the early morning light.

I’m glad I got to see this. It was definitely worth getting up early for.

Catching Up

I’m gonna play catch-up with some posts that I meant to write earlier. Like this one from last fall.

One of my favorite views across Sunshine Valley is this one; I love watching how my view of Olson’s red barn changes with the seasons.
