Da Surfing Bear

Eh! While I’m getting the next road trip post ready, try look dis awesome bear that a Jordan, of Jordan’s Carved Creations in Damascus, carved with a chainsaw for Mike at Hawaiian Beanz Coffee Shop! Bear on a surfboard! What an artist, yeah? He really captured the action! I watch him carving everytime I go by his place right there in Damascus. He told me he could even carve me a coconut tree!

I’m amazed at how he can see so much potential in a regular block of wood, then use a chainsaw without even a drawing!

Oh eh. Try look da baby pineapples in da window, too!

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-One

Ho da long time, yeah? Well, one excuse is that I was at the beach with my friends for four days. But here I am again, and we’ll be driving through the Idaho desert for a bit longer. When we first moved to Twin Falls, I had a really hard time about the desert. The towns were green, with trees and flowers, but surrounding all of them was the desert. I never could get totally used to it; coming from Hawaiʻi where everywhere was green, I was sometimes known to whine about having to go through desert to get anywhere.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty

K’den. Last time we were just about to enter Shoshone Falls Park. This park is near and dear to Nolemana and I because we spent so much time here when Leilani was just a baby and toddler. Nolemana worked really long retail hours; he had one evening off per week (plus Sunday… believe it or not, the stores closed on Sunday back then), so when the weather was nice we usually drove down to the park and had a picnic. Leilani was born in March, so by the time we could have picnics she was several months old and could lie out on a blanket on the green grass..
