A Sweater For Nolemana, Part Two: Trusting the Process

This afternoon I spent a wonderful two hours with some special friends at Aloha Espresso in Damascus, where we all kitted, talked stories, and drank coffee or tea.  I took along my Joseph’s Coat blanket, which I began knitting over a year ago and have been sluggish about finishing.  Other yarns and projects have called to me, and I  followed their siren songs and entreating voices.  What can I say? Sunset From Da Lanai

A Sweater For Nolemana, Part One: Imua (Beginning)

Two years ago, Nolemana and I spent a weekend on Fox Island up in the Puget Sound, Washington, area.  While there, of course I had to check out at least one yarn shop, so we took the cute ferry over to Tacoma and then drove out to Lamb’s Ear Farm, where I had a wonderful time checking out all the great stuff.  Nolemana is wonderful about letting me browse, and patiently follows me around and sometimes even checks things out on his own. Conundrum

Sock Knitters Up in Arms… or Should That Be Feet?

There is this wonderful yarn company outside Portland, Oregon.  They make the most wonderful hand-dyed yarns for socknitting, among other things.  Amazing colorways (that’s the knitting geek term for different yarn colors).  Real nice people, too.  Every year they come to Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival, and I bust my budget wide open.   Continue reading →
