First of da Beans

This year I planted my pole beans in one old trough that Nolemana had drilled puka [holes] into. The original idea had been to put the trough on black plastic over Da Evil Knotweed. But after reading what would happen if we laid down the plastic, like ukutrillionbillion more evil knotweeds would emerge, I decided to ask Nolemana to put it up on the deck so I could plant the beans in it. He and Orvill did just that, and Nolemana built some ‘way cool da kines to rest the trough on so that it could be easily moved. Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Ten

So there we were, high in the mountains above Yamhill County, hoping for a glimpse of the lake that was shown on the map. We were still driving . Continue reading

Da Blackberry Battle

Today, war was declared. The battlefield was our driveway. The opponent was the blackberries that are now mostly ripe and ready to pick. Birds are already attempting to claim the territory for their own. Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Nine

Our last comp was located up on Meadowlake Road, so after leaving Woodland Woolworks, that’s where we decided to go. I’ve been in Carlton a lot, but have never driven up Meadowlake Road. As I drove, Nolemana looked at the map and discovered that there was a big lake or something up the road, so off we went on another adventure! Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Eight

Daboonies, Part Seven

When last we left Nolemana and Mokihana, they were at a 7-way stop. Which way to turn? The Google map indicated that the road went through in the general direction they wanted to go, which was North. But it was the wrong road name. They sat at the intersection for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do. Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Six

So here we are, up in the mountains. We’re seeing some nani scenery, which includes forests, Christmas tree farms, and views of the valley below. But suddenly, I think we might have a teensy problem. Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Five

Like I said yesterday, I love adventures.  I love taking back roads not knowing where they’ll lead.  I’m the “Oh, let’s turn here!” kinda girl, while Nolemana is frantically looking at the map trying to figure out where his pupule [crazy] wife is going now. Continue reading

Daboonies, Part Four
