Today, war was declared. The battlefield was our driveway. The opponent was the blackberries that are now mostly ripe and ready to pick. Birds are already attempting to claim the territory for their own.
The opponent:
No look to bad, yeah? Nice and green. Get plenny.
Plenny berries, ripe for da picking.
Sweet and ripe and oh, so nani!
Lots of ripe ones, with still more still ready to ripen. How they tempt us with their beauty and sweetness!
Try wait! The minute we came near, the enemy shouldered their weapons, ready to strike with whatever force was necessary:
The older soldiers had larger weapons:
Undaunted, Nolemana and I moved in, ready to vanquish and plunder and take what is rightfully ours.
Even the ones without fruit stood at the ready:
I did not emerge unscathed.
However, guess who won in the end! Heh heh.
Savage those scratches! Ho man! The berries look so ‘ono’. I have a healthy plant that I still haven’t planted. I’m sort of worried about hos that thing is going to take off and take over, if you know what I mean. I have a fruitful muscadine vine (wild grape) that has given us LOTS of fruit this year. That one too, has to be watched, or else it goes to town on everything else. Enjoy your fruit!
No kidding, savage! But you’re right… so ono!! Serves them right I’m gonna cook and freeze ’em!
ha ha to da old soldiers! vanquished they are….nani the berries
You GO!! Show them who’s boss. Just clean up the evidence.. hehehe..
Those look ONOLICIOUS. I have been making jam like a crazy person over the last few weeks. So I sympothize with your quest.
This year I was lazy and went to the fruit stand. I know, I know. Don’t judge.. hehehe.. Take care.
Oh man, I miss Oregon berries! Cute story too TFS! Great pics.
