Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Part Six

Let’s see…where were we?  I texted Suzette: “Have you gotten to Creston Junction yet?” Her reply: “Passed”.  Rats. I missed them again. I asked if they’d gotten to Sinclair yet, and she said no. They crossed the Continental Divide again and then saw a sign that said, “Blowover risk Wolcott Junction…winds 50+ mph”. Ack!!! They were driving a kind of tall truck, too. Wolcott Junction was one of the places where I thought I might be able to catch them. Because try look what a long view of the highway it is!

Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Chapter Five

I better hurry up and finish this journey; Suzette and I text a lot, and if I don’t finish, I’ll never be able to scroll up far enough to find our conversations about the trip!

Last time, we were almost to Green River, Wyoming.  Just past that photo, we came to this big tunnel up ahead.

Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Chapter Four

Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning! Suzette and Owen were on their way an hour earlier than our time, and this is what greeted me when I got up and hurried to my computer:

“Utah!! Happy New Year!”

Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Chapter Three

I should state, before we go any further, that I had absolutely no intention of becoming the obsessive, wild-eyed, vigilant, hyper, tethered-to- my- computer person that I ended up being on New Year’s Eve Day 2017. Nope.  I was going to knit. I was going to fix lunch, cough, feel sorry for myself because I felt so junk, cough, and watch all the birdies outside feast on the food I’d set out for them.  I was going to organize my yarn!  (This, even though I was coughing up junk and could hardly keep my eyes open!) I’d even take a nap! Or two. None of that happened. Instead, I was truly obsessed interested in the road trip.

Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Chapter Two

Ho, get photos this time!!  Keep in mind that while all this was going on, I was coughing like crazy, and was so tired all the time. So this road trip helped to take my mind off how junk I was feeling. The doctor told me it was one of the nastiest viruses to come around, and I believed it.

The first photo that Suzette sent on their first day out was near the turnoff to Goldendale, Washington. There was a blade being replaced on one of the wind turbines. So neat to see this! We’ve been by all those turbines on our way to Montana, but never got to see a blade being replaced.

Riding Virtual Shotgun to Colorado, Chapter One

Okay, so you folks already know I’m kinda weird. Call it lolo, call it pupule, watevah. I’m quirky. I’m an out of the box kind of person, right? So maybe you’ll understand what I did this month. No? Well, maybe. Gimme chance, eh?

So I got the sad news that my spinning buddy, Suzette, and her hubby, were moving to Colorado for a couple of years. She and I used to get together once or twice a month to spin, though lately it hasn’t been that often because the coffee shop closed where we used to meet.

Guessing Game, Chapter Two

Oh my gosh, I forgot to let you know what I was knitting! I’ll blame it on the fact that I was really sick from December 5th till now. As a matter of fact, I’ll blame my silence since November on that. Actually, it’s a good reason. I couldn’t stop coughing and ended up twice at the doctor’s. It was the virus from hell; I’m doing better now, mahalo ke Akua.

Well, here you go: this is what you were guessing what it was:

Boring, Oregon, Ain’t So Boring.

K’den.  Here in the wilds of Damascus and Boring, Oregon, we see lots of critters.  Some are like this one, my neighbor, Vaquero.

Montana Road Trip 2010, Chapter Forty-One

So this time, let’s start off with a video! This’ll give you a better idea of what it’s like traveling in the Palouse Country.  AFK is right; I really need to have some music playing, preferably Hawaiian, while these videos are rolling.  Lesson has been learned.

Montana Road Trip 2010, Chapter Forty

Hui!! U folks like go back to Idaho? K’den. We go, south on Highway 95. Heading home from Montana.

The last sign we saw, for Mary McCroskey Park? Here’s where you can read more about it and see the amazing views that can be seen. Her son spent tons and tons of money and a good part of his life preserving it as a tribute to his mom.  Seeing the views from the top must be an amazing experience. Maybe somebody was up there even now watching us drive by!  Our road-levels views were pretty beautiful, but I’d still like to see the area from a higher view. It’s a 21-mile ridgetop road.
