Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Eight

Ho, it’s hard not having any work right now, but at least it gives me time to do bloggie updates. We do need the work however; this blog doesn’t pay the bills! But I’ll keep doing these updates quickly as long as I can.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Seven

So we left Baker City behind us, heading towards the Blue Mountains. We hadn’t gone very far down the road and had just passed under Imnaha Road, when we spied The Oregon Trail Monument. In case you wonder why it takes us so long to get anywhere on road trips, it’s not only because Mokihana hollers, “Train!” or “Barn!” or something, it’s also because she hollers, “Historical Marker!” I think Nolemana would have been content to just drive by, but guess what? He ain’t the driver. He has no control! Heh heh.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Six

Baker City. It’s a town that gives you such a sense of history! I just told Izzie that I would love to do a walking tour of the town sometime, and find out more about the wonderful old buildings that populate the downtown area. It was really hard to leave Turn the Page Books and head back out to the car; we were beginning to feel a little pressure because home was still a long ways away.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Five

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Four

Kʻden, here we go again! We are now going downhill and closer to the Snake River. The first shot in this part is coming up on the exit for Weiser, Idaho. I always knew the Snake was a long river, but it’s way different seeing it in person hour after hour than seeing it on a map.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Three

Nolemana, Kukui, and I woke up to a bright sunny day in Ontario, Oregon. The Holiday Inn where I’d made reservations had a restaurant right next door, and I’d also signed up for a dinner coupon, so that’s where we ate. Well, not Kukui. She had her usual boring dog food. The kaukau was good at dinner, so we went there again for breakfast. Musubi waited out in the car. This was a great motel. While we were signing in another wahine was there signing in at the same time. She’d travelled from Colorado and was heading back to Seattle, making the trip alone and loving it. She said that she allots herself an eight-hour driving day, and wherever she is at the time, that’s where she stays. Well, not in the middle of the desert. Who’s da lolo who wen say dat? Nolemana helped her carry her bags up the stairs (no elevator). Really nice lady.

Da Surfing Bear

Eh! While I’m getting the next road trip post ready, try look dis awesome bear that a Jordan, of Jordan’s Carved Creations in Damascus, carved with a chainsaw for Mike at Hawaiian Beanz Coffee Shop! Bear on a surfboard! What an artist, yeah? He really captured the action! I watch him carving everytime I go by his place right there in Damascus. He told me he could even carve me a coconut tree!

I’m amazed at how he can see so much potential in a regular block of wood, then use a chainsaw without even a drawing!

Oh eh. Try look da baby pineapples in da window, too!
