Wow, May’s almost pau. I better hurry up with the photos!
The Western Tanager and his mate are back! They love the suet we put out. I know the photo’s blurry, but they wouldn’t hold still! So beautiful!
I finished spinning this:
Which became this. I’m calling it “Peace in the Time of Storm”. Quarantine spinning.
One Friday I drove Nolemana up to the retinologist in Vancouver and while I was waiting outside, a woman took her bulldog for a walk. The dog wouldn’t go anywhere without her monkey…ho da kewt!! Made my day seeing this.
While I waited, after walking two laps around the parking lot for exercise, I knitted on my handspun neck warmie.
We’ve been visited by two or three does this spring.
I love seeing them in the green grass.
I started on my next spin from Dicentra Yarn. Her colorways are amazing. This one’s called “Hammerhand”.
A robin came and took a bath in our birdbath.
I made a sourdough blueberry cobbler. Broke da mout’!!!
One Sunday I got to see my bestie friend in person at the Boring Post Office so that I could give her the masks I made for her. She is one courageous wahine, and we gave each other air hugs in the sunshine.
And I dropped off my ballot.
Nani sunset through the rain.
And I got very sad news from home; Willie K passed away today. He had the voice of an angel, and unbelievable talent. We were so fortunate to get to see him in person when he came to Portland, and I’ve been following him all over. I cried when I read this. This is a tremendous loss in our Hawaiian community. Rest in aloha, brah.
My little African Violet is blooming again. I bought it years ago at a farmer’s market in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. It was much smaller then; it’s a travelling violet, so keeps growing. I just love it.
I made Tropical Sourdough Muffins, full of yummy coconut, banana, and orange juice.
K’den, pau for now. Mahalo nui for tagging along!
So much yummy food. Sourdough is one pandemic bandwagon I have jumped on, but it all sounds so good!
“haven’t” not “HAVE”!
I was really sad to hear about Willie K as well. He fought so long and hard right up to the end. We got to see him at last year’s Live Aloha Festival in September because he has `ohana just north of us in Edmonds.
You do such beautiful work. I’m glad you’re able to be productive during quarantine time.
OH my goodness….that skein of yarn, Peace in the Time of Storm, is fabulous! I’d buy it just to wear around my neck (under my mask, of course!) Yes, birds are so hard to photograph without fancy cameras 😉 And was indeed sad to lose Willie K. I only got turned onto him about 5 years ago but picked up several CDs when visiting my son over there. Sigh…. Lovely blog! Thanks oxoxo
