(Website down last night… )

Today was another wonderful spinning
day with my friend Suzette; we met again in Canby and spun for hours. On the way down, I took the obligatory photo of Willamette Falls, as I usually do on a spinning day.

Today we had a number of people stopping by to ask us about our spinning; one lady who was knitting at the back of the coffee shop came zooming over to me just before we were about to leave.

“Do you know how to knit?” she asked me.

Smiling, I said, “Yes, I do.” (Gotta do something with all the yarn we’re making, right?)

She was so relieved! She’s a fairly new knitter and had run into a problem she desperately needed help with. Fortunately, I was able to help her fix it; she was so delighted that she gave me a big hug and told me over and over how happy she was that we were still there.

I am well on my way to spinning a second bobbin of this lovely colorway by Patti at Sweet Grass Wool in Montana.

Suzette was also spinning up some gorgeous fiber, and when we reluctantly parted for the day, we rejoiced in the fact that it was such a satisfying day for both of us.

A few of my friends and I were at a teriyaki place for lunch; we were sitting right next to the window where the sun was streaming in, highlighting photos of some of the items on the menu.

A yellowjacket flew onto the window and said to himself, “Ho da ‘onolicious!” Too funny dat.

I was in Tuesday Morning and saw these adorable decorations. I love the bird and the lamb a lot but have no idea what I’d do with them if I had them.

At least there’s some St Patrick’s Day green in the little birdie!

Today we celebrated both our daughters’ birthdays. Leilani had been out of town when Anela had her birthday, so today we had one big birthday bash.

We all contributed towards a lunch of tacos, and then the girls got to the main event, opening their presents. I took a photo of all the presents before we started to commemorate the day. I am so blessed to be the mom to these two incredible young women!

Today this little guy sat at my bird bath for a long time and I had my camera ready and was able to snap this photo of him. He enjoyed sitting there, took a quick bath and a drink of water, then off he went.

It’s a Song Sparrow, and I had no idea I even had them around here!

Up the hill and around several corners from me about a mile away from me lives a young man named Bryan. Several weeks ago the 10-year old put a sign out at the end of his long driveway that read “Organic Eggs For Sale” and I decided that I’d try several dozen to see how I liked them. I’d been buying cage-free eggs at the store, but the thought of getting eggs so close to home really appealed to me. Continue reading

On February 25th, I wrote that although I didn’t take the photo of the day I was including it anyway, because it was my youngest daughter’s birthday and I wanted to honor her that way.

Well, today is my eldest daughter’s birthday, and I’m doing the same for her. I will be telling Leilani her birthday story later on tonight as she snuggles in bed. She was born in Idaho while a big snowstorm was going on outside; the delivery room had a skylight and I could see big fat snowflakes coming down outside.

Hauʻoli lā hānau e Leilani, my beloved first-born daughter. I love you!

Even though it was a rainy day today, these tiny daffodils in my friend’s yard really brightened up the day!

Today Nolemana and I went to the Antique Spinning Wheel Showcase in Aurora, Oregon. It was held in the museum there, and there were fifty old wheels being spun on by ladies in period costume. It was really hard to choose a photo for the day from all the ones that I took! The one that I chose was of a woman wearing a Civil War dress, minus all the petticoats and hoops that a woman would ordinarily wear. She looked wonderful! She was spinning on an antique wheel, and making some lovely yarn as she did.

Just looking at her dress with ukubillion yards of fabric in it made me very glad I live in a time where I can wear shorts and slippahs!

I will be uploading more photos from the day in a few days… one is a video of a friend of mine spinning on a pendulum wheel. It was pretty amazing to watch!
