Daboonies, Part One

Last Saturday Nolemana and I had to do an appraisal in Polk County.  Ordinarily, we never go that far, but we were helping out another appraiser so took the job.  So we decided to make a day of it; so we packed water, the ice chest, Kukui and us into the car at 8:40 a.m., and off we went.  Holoholo ka‘a!  I’m splitting this post into several different ones cuz get so many pics!  I think I went overboard small kine. Aloha Prayer Shawls

About a month or so ago, ke Akua [God] told me that He wanted me to knit an aloha prayer shawl for a friend of mine who has had a pretty rough year.  She tends to get chilly in restaurants and in the evenings during the summer, and it seemed that ke Akua wanted me to knit a shawl to take the chill off, light and summery, in colors that my friend loves. Pumpernickel Valley

When Nolemana and I lived in Twin Falls, Idaho, we made a number of trips through Nevada to California where our folks lived.  We drove at night, we drove in the day.  We drove through enough desert in Nevada to fill up my lifetime quota of desert, sand and sagebrush.

Tropical Color in Damascus!

Every Fall, when temperatures begin to drop dangerously low foa my tropical plants (of which get many!), Nolemana resigns himself to the fact that our dining room, which really isn’t a dining room at all (because it’s filled with all my creative stuffs like yarn and fleece and beads and Hawaiian quilting and… oh, nemmine!), will now be crowded with the plants that can’t winter outdoors.
