Snow, Great Backyard Bird Count, and Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge!

This morning it was snowing hard! And sticking! I could hardly believe it… snow on Valentine’s Day.

I really enjoyed it while it lasted.

Believe it or not, this is snow coming down.

Now you can see it moa betta:

I had to drive to Sandy to pick up some meds for Zipper, the Cairn Terrier who’s staying with us while Linda and Pat are in Mexico. It was 31 degrees and snowing pretty hard when we left. Musubi was lovin’ it! Here we are, heading down the driveway.

And on Highway 26 on the way to Sandy. It was snowing harder at our house than here, which is higher in elevation.

By the time we got home, pau da snow, though some lingered on the driveway. I wish it had lasted a little longer!

I’m doing the Annual Bird Count today. First time I’ve ever done it.

And tomorrow, we’re gonna go back up to Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge; I hope to get some good photos with my new camera.

Hmm… wonder if I can count birds there! Does it count?

  1. It was spitting snow in the rain way down here in PDX this morning, too! I still like it, even if we got a bit too much in December…

Ho da nani! Love the big fir trees. Do you have a favorite bird? We try to have a Bird of the Year around here. The rule is that it has to be a fairly common one. Last year it was the Java finch. This year, it’s the White-eye. Non-native, but still cute and we’ve got plenty of them. We also have plenny o’ Shama, who was a previous titleholder. Such a beautiful song!
