As promised, in these gray days of winter, I’m gonna post a bunch of photos from our autumn holoholo around the area. I already posted our covered bridge holoholo…this time we’re heading up Highway 26 to Government Camp and then to Lolo Pass Road. I know, I always smile at “lolo”… it means a whole lot different when you’re from Hawaiʻi. There’s Lolo in Montana, too.
Let’s head down the driveway on this pretty autumn day.
I’d never seen an Aspen tree until we lived in Idaho, and I fell in love with them. I’m glad our neighbors have these ones.
And yes, I took a video of the quaking. Nolemana and I used to go to Tahoe every fall…his sister and her hubby have a cabin there, and there are tons of aspens there, too. I just couldn’t get enough of them. The leaves quaking in the breeze and the lovely colors fill my heart.
We’re now just coming in to Brightwood.
We’re getting closer…this is near Welches.
We stopped at the big curve at the Rockwood Viewpoint to check out the color along the hillside. Of course, I loved this spot of yellow among all the green.
Musubi loved seeing the fall colors, too.
Very interesting Oregon Trail history.
I took a screenshot of the Laurel Hill path the pioneers took.
And here’s the relationship to Government Camp.
We took the second entrance into Government Camp, deciding not to go any further east. The town was pretty quiet today. But just wait till the snow comes!
We headed back down the mountain again.
Plenny people stop here in winter to take off chains…very bad idea.
The Vine Maples were so pretty against the green firs.
Serendipitous me… I said to Nolemana, “Eh, let’s go ova dea! Up Lolo Pass Road.” Either because I’m lolo or because I’m driving and get to choose. Nah nah nah…he agreed.
I love dat get Lolo Pass in Oregon! Do you know that song “Hula Lolo”? Soooo nani, all da trees and da colors. Mahaloz fo’ letting us ride shotgun sistah!
I do know “Hula Lolo”! Such a fun song, yeah? Mahaloz to you for riding shotgun!
