Never let it be said that we don’t take enough photos on our road trips, yeah? I didn’t expect this road trip would take so many chapters! It’s fun reliving it, though.
This should look familiar to you… all the apple orchards again.Cashmere is to the left. We made a quick left turn because we spied a coffee shop.Aut-to Mocha. We got our coffees and were very pleased with the service and the coffees we go. It was a good stop, and I left another positive review on Google.Sign for Aplets Way…the candy has its own street name!Heading back uphill again.Pyramid hill!Leavenworth – 10 miles9:40 a.m.Beautiful mountains with apple orchards along the road. There were lots of fruit boxes waiting to get filled. Are these teeny tiny houses for farm workers? They sure are small. Maybe they’re for something else.Wenatchee River and railroad trestle just south of Dryden, looking east.Near Jeske Road, Peshastin; we’re heading to Ellensburg next! Here we go.After making the turn for Ellensburg. Hwy 97 South.A really pretty part of the highway. It’s so much prettier than the barren hills we’ve seen. We’re driving through the Wenatchee National Forest here. Pretty, yeah?Blewett Pass sign. Elevation 4082′. South of Dryden and Peshastin.
And for a special treat… just us and Led, driving along (turn up your volume if you like hear).
We make another turn, continuing onto Highway 97 south.Right after the Hwy 97 south turnoff. Such a pretty valley! We didn’t take a ton of photos along Highway 97 south because we’d taken so many as we headed north. But here’s a few wind turbines for you. It’s hard to realize how huge these things are until you’re up close. Judging by alla ones down there about 4 o’clock in the photo sure confirms that this is a windy area, just north of Ellensburg.Kakaroached Google aerial photo to show the shadow of one of the turbines. These reminds me of the ones in the Columbia River Gorge.X marks da spot… this is where we stopped for the video. I was standing all the way to the right of the paved area.Right turn to Yakima…we weren’t going that way. That would’ve led us back the way we’d come the day before.
