April 26th

Daily hummingbird.

Dark-eyed Juncos are still around!
So proud of my nephew, Scott!!
Sunset hummingbird.

April 27th

New spinning project; amazing batt from FatCatKnits.
On the bobbin, with lots of texture.
ʻElua daily hummingbirds! And not fighting.

April 28th

Daily hummingbird.
I was afraid we’d lost the rhododendron and the azalea in the 116° heat last summer, but they survived!
Food delivery Thursday.
Everyone’s in red today for food deliveries.
The mustard is still blooming.
I heard this bird in the mustard field!
Pretty colors at my friend’s house today.
ʻElua daily hummingbirds divided by the sun directly in front of me.

April 29th

Daily hummingbird.
Daily hummingbird tummy cleaning time.

April 30th

Junk daily hummingbird photo but it shows his lovely green back.
Visiting Mourning Dove on the lānai.

    Elua must mean two? In Māori it’s rua. I love the feeling of connection these similarities give.

      Yes! I love how the two languages are similar. I only know one song in Māori and the same one in Hawaiian. Both are poetry.

    I’m so glad your rhodies and azalea survived! That heatwave was no joke, for sure. I *love* that birdsong recognition app! We have white-crowned sparrows in our neighborhood too. We call them the “piggy wiggy bird,” because to our ears, it’s singing “I’m the piggy-wiggy bird!” (Experts say its call is “see me, pretty pretty me!”) And it’s so neat that your hummers are able to co-exist. Maybe it’s mating season? Thanks for sharing!

      I’m glad they survived, too. That heatwave…I’ve never experienced anything like it before.
      I love your “piggy-wiggy” birds!!! What a perfect name for them, better than the experts’ one. Although not always peacefully, the hummers do manage to co-exist… I keep putting up more feeders so they’re not fighting all the time!
