I wasn’t able to spin as much as I’d hoped to, but I did get some stuff done during this year’s TdF… my spinning challenge Numbah One was to finish spinning the red/yellow/pink braid and to work on continuing to spin Maxwell’s fleece. Who’s Maxwell? He was an adorable Shetland sheep that I met one day several years ago. You can read about him and his brother here.
Maxwell’s fleece has been a challenge because even after it had been washed twice and then carded into roving, it’s still full of junk stuff. But even though it’s taking longer than normal to spin it, I remind myself that hey, he’s a sheep.
I didn’t get it finished, but I was very grateful that I was able to spin again on my vintage Jorgensen mahogany wheel, which I wasn’t able to do before I had knee surgery.
So here are a few of the collages I made for the Tour. My Gardenia was blooming, too!
This bright fiber is Montana Targhee from Sweet Grass Wool. It was a pleasure to spin!
One day, a giant “Hummingbird” came to the feeder.
Kalakoa was my cheerleader.
I finished spinning this while my Birds of Paradise were blooming.
Anden I started some Cormo for the final days of the Tour. This is my last collage. It was a fun time, and I was so happy to be able to spin again!
