Having to stay home and in the house all the time is difficult for me. I’m losing track of days since my usual schedule wen hemo. Out da window. Afuera de la ventana. Usually I’ve got something going almost every day, going here, going there. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a cave and long to be outside, even with alla smoke. But ho da hot! This squirrel on our lānai railing was sure feeling it yesterday when it got to be over 100°. I don’t feel sorry for him because he always tries to kakaroach the suet in my bird feeders. The birdbath has plenny water in it, though. He can drink that; I don’t mind.
This brightened my day, though. I won these lovely stitch markers in a random Tour de Fleece drawing from the FatCatKnits group.
And in the Schacht Wheels group, I won this gorgeous braid of fiber! I could hardly believe it…two prizes this year!
This morning I couldn’t stand it anymore. I hobbled out to our lānai to check on the garden (in tubs), to feel the sun on my face, and to look at the smoke across the valley. Yikes.
But I did find some zucchini growing nicely. I planted a bunch hoping that it wouldn’t fizzle out on me like it usually does. Nolemana said he saw bees in the blossoms yesterday, so I’m hopeful. But I gotta get better quick so I can make zucchini bread for the year.
Nolemana took this photo of a bumblebee on these blossoms. I planted some bee balm, but it hasn’t begun to bloom yet.
I got to feel the sun on my skin, so that felt good, too. And I ate one ripe Sungold tomato. Now I think I’ll knit for awhile.
Hopefully, the smoke will blow on today and we can get back to whining about the heat. Trying to keep up with the watering and making sure my little friends have water too.
I hope so, too, Kathy. It’s still really smoky here this morning. I would love if we could get an entire week of rain!
Glad you got to go outside, even wit da smoke. Thinking good thoughts for your recovery. Any timetable for recovery?
(BTW, I know what you meant, but the idea of a “squirrel kakaroach” is pretty funny but ujji.)
Mahalo! The Dr told me if I’m not better in 10 days I may need physical therapy. Which might not be a bad idea since I have absolutely no idea what caused this.
Hahaha… squirrel kakaraoch… more big then the B-52s! I didn’t even think about that!
Mokihana- what a wonderful blog you have! I found you after searching for information on Joe Jorgensen’s spinning wheels. Guess what? I have #45. In mint condition! Would you kindly contact me, I would love to chat with you about it-
Happy spinning-
Oh my gosh! I’m so thrilled that you saw my blog and that you have a Jorgensen wheel. I’ll email you about it today! Thanks so much for your comment.
