My dear friend Julie came over today; she picked me up where my car was getting a lube/oil. We’d planned to do some spinnin’ out on the deck, and spinnin’ we did. No, not on bikes. Spinnin’ wheels!
Julie was plying some “mystery batt” yarn that she’d gotten at Fantasy Fibers last year at Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. The batts are really interesting because you never know what kind of yarn you’ll get. Mostly we buy them for the color.
The bobbin with its WooLee Winder was zipping along at a good speed!
I was spinning more ‘Ele‘ele; it’s taking me a really long time! We’re dogsitting another good friend Linda’s Cairn Terrier while she and her husband are at the coast, and Zipper lay down at my feet.
It was a hot day, and Kukui just made herself comfortable too.
Seems like it’s taking me forever to fill up the bobbin!
Look at Julie’s pretty yarn!!
When her bobbin is full, we put the yarn onto the swift to make a skein.
Ho da nani, yeah?
And here it is! A lovely skein of yarn.
I, in the meantime, am still trying to fill my first bobbin!
It was a great few hours, two friends sitting under the shade of Oregon Bigleaf Maples, spinnin’ and talkin’ together while the doggies slept nearby and the goldfinches flew to and from the Nyjer thistle feeder.
was a most relaxing and fun time….I am thankful to have Mokihana as a friend
What a great way to spend a day. Thanks for letting us share it.
What a lovely day :-}
