Rest For The Weary, Update

Remember when Ricky and Poem came to live with us? It was rainy Spring when they arrived, and some days they had to wear their raincoats. But now summer is here and they have settled in so well!

They’ve lost their shaggy winter coats and are now sleek and shiny.

Here is Poem, grazing in the tall grass. It sure helps to have the horses here; last summer one horse couldn’t keep up with it!

Ricky grazes just a little bit away from her. Joan tells us that Ricky tells her he loves it here.

We love having both of them here. Just yesterday when Nolemana let them out of the barn in the morning, they both came out running, and their manes and tails were flowing behind them. What a glorious sight it was!

Everytime we go near the pasture fence, Ricky is there waiting for a treat. In the evening, they both head into the barn on their own, knowing that Joan will soon come to feed them.

There’s something wonderful about having a horse nicker to me when I drive up to the pasture gate. And to have two of them calling to me makes it doubly wonderful. These are two really special horses, and we got Joan’s special family as well!

How marvelous. Would that we could all live so harmoniously.

  3. The spring I moved back to the U.S. from Japan I was recovering from a pretty rough time of it (someone had burned down my house, and I was a suspect).
I lived for a time on Rancho Paso, and caring for the horses there healed me in so many ways.

*sigh* You are living a part of life I only dreamed of as a horse lover. It is kind of sad to know that I will never experience my childhood dream, but I so enjoy seeing your pics of the treasures you enjoy daily 🙂 You are such a blessed sista!
