Tomorrow I’m driving down to Mt Angel to the Shalom Prayer Center to take a writing class from Nan Phifer. I’m really excited about it, as this is the second class I’ve taken from her. She’s a fabulous instructor and I can’t wait to get there!
Writing is a huge part of my life, and Nan gives me great inspiration and jumpstarts to my writing. She’s encouraging to writers and helps us to make our writing better.
The drive down is lovely, and even though I have to get up at dark-thirty, ainokea (I don’t care). I enjoy the solitude of the drive both there and back; it’s good contemplation time.
This is what the class is about:
Writing into Inner Light
On occasion we are more than ourselves. We are infused with compassion, generosity, or forgiveness, from beyond ourselves. We somehow know what to do and do it. Unable to explain this miracle, we say we “rose to the occasion.” Nan will enable us to identify times when we extended beyond our usual abilities. We’ll write about those occasions and express thanks for the inner light that filled us with strength, knowledge, and love. Nan Phifer is the Associate Director of the Oregon Writing Project at the University of Oregon in Eugene and author of Memoirs of the Soul. Here’s Nan’s website.
