Bloom Where You’re Planted

We have an aviary of ringneck doves outside my office; I love hearing them cooing to each other, sometimes even in the middle of the night.
Today I went out to feed and water them; the redbud tree is in full bloom and oh, so lovely. I happened to look underneath it and saw an old pot that Nolemana brought home from a deserted house for me; he knew I’d love it. It was rusty and a bit worse for wear, and I stuck it out among the flowers in my garden.

As I walked by it today, I saw that the winds had knocked it over on its side and its bottom was all rusted out. But as I looked a little closer, I saw something pink trying to poke its way out.

I had a small kine epiphany, right there in front of the rusted pot. Sometimes the places where we’re planted are uncomfortable or not particularly glamorous. We fret and squirm and wish we were someplace else. But in my garden yesterday, I saw a perfect example of learning to thrive in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. A good lesson for me on a bright Spring day in April.

Oh wow! That’s gorgeous. And a central theme of my life here in Hawai’i, as well. Thank you for sharing that.

Such a good teaching; the solution is contained in the problem, the answer is in the question. Thanks for sharing the photo and wisdom.
