Moki Moka

Hawaiian Beanz Coffee Company in Damascus: my home away from home, my place of refuge from the stress of my life, my knitting retreat, and my first choice when I want a a latté, capuccino or mango smoothie.

Karie, Mike and their kids Amanda and Andrew are ‘ohana to me, and I am Aunty Mokihana to their friendly workers. I’m in the shop a lot, and usually order the same thing: a 16-oz sugar-free fat-free decaf raspberry mocha extra-hot no whip.

I’ve ordered it so many times that Mike and Karie named it after me! Last week Karie even wrote its name in my mocha!

how cool is that. We tried to stop by there last summer, but it was Sunday. They were closed for church or something. I haven’t been back that way, maybe I’ll give it a shot again sometime this summer. I can’t wait for the fruit stand to start…

I’ve always wanted a coffee named after me! No, seriously! And may I just say that your coffee sounds amazing–I’m gong to try it. That’s one thing I’m finding in New York–there is GREAT coffee here.

I was actually looking for you e-mail so I could tell you that I miss my Edward like… I would miss my hand. I haven’t quite lost hope –I still call for him when I walk outside. I am going to post some larger posters and my husband suggested we try to find a pet detective. I’m not sure they actually exist outside of the movies but I am willing to try!

Thanks for thinking of us, and especially my Eddy V. Life just isn’t the same without him.

That is true fame, to have a dish/drink named after you. And I can’t think of anyone more deserving to have a drink named after! That’s fabulous!

  4. Now that’s what I call the good kinda fame !

    How cool is that?!

    I LOOOOOOVE my morning coffee.

This summer is the one where I learn to drive my hand controls, and gain energy to go out to a coffee shop once in a while.

We have a local coffee shop I’ve heard great things about that I’ve been dying to visit. Bombadil’s in Ypsilanti. It just SOUNDS good. And knitters tend to congregate there on a Friday evening.
