How Wild is this!

I was talking to Karie at Hawaiian Beanz today. Turns out their son, who’s in college in Southern California, and is going to be a fireman like his dad, Mike, has a scanner or something where he can hear all the emergency calls for this area. So Mike and Karie were down there last week when Andrew said to them, “Guess what? There’s a fire call in Damascus” or whatever he said. And it was the call to come out to our house.

So there they all were, our good friends, in California, listening to the call about Boring Fire and Rescue coming out here.

Fortunately it was the only Damascus fire call this week.

Amazing. Just amazing.

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Forty

We’re coming to the end of Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed. Ahahahaha. It only took me about a year or so. I think this post and one or two more are gonna do it, and then we’ll be off on another adventure.

Like Moses, we have now come down from the mountain, not with two clay tablets with the Ten Commandments on them, but with a wealth of memories to last us a really long time. We have one more mountain range to get through before we get home, but we will pass through it at sea level, on its fringes. Continue reading

Da Mystery Road Trip Revealed, Part Thirty-Seven

So we left Baker City behind us, heading towards the Blue Mountains. We hadn’t gone very far down the road and had just passed under Imnaha Road, when we spied The Oregon Trail Monument. In case you wonder why it takes us so long to get anywhere on road trips, it’s not only because Mokihana hollers, “Train!” or “Barn!” or something, it’s also because she hollers, “Historical Marker!” I think Nolemana would have been content to just drive by, but guess what? He ain’t the driver. He has no control! Heh heh.
