January 2nd

Here I go again. I’ve decided not to number the days, just use the dates to keep track. Maybe 100 posts seemed too intimidating for me? What a year was last year. Adunno…maybe that’s not even a proper sentence. Probably isn’t. But ainokea…last year was chaotic and frustrating and scary…and I hope this year won’t be a repeat, but I’m concerned that it could be even worse. However, that said, I hope this little bloggie will be a respite from all of the negative stuff that’s on the news and social media. My hope is that my photos will bring joy, peace, and even amusement to everyone who sees them. Anyway, cows and hummingbirds on a daily basis can surely be a real antidote to the daily news, right?

…in which Mokihana posts at lightning speed in order to catch up before the end of the year!
December 16th

Bessie and Lani Moo were behaving themselves in the forest trees. It was a very foggy morning.

First, the daily hummingbird!

And our daily hummingbird wannabe.

And now, as promised, here’s today’s excitement, pīpī version.
This morning, I saw Bessie up near the driveway, but didn’t think too much about it. The cows frequently come up here.

December 7th
I can never write this date without thinking of Pearl Harbor Day, knowing my parents watched the bombing from their tiny house up Tantalus. It was a terrifying time for them, because the radio reports indicated that the attackers may have landed. Dad was ready with his bayonet in case that was true. They lived through the blackout days, and rationing, and I wish they’d talked more about it. But I digress.
