365 Days 2024, January-1

Here I go again. I’ve decided not to number the days, just use the dates to keep track. Maybe 100 posts seemed too intimidating for me? What a year was last year. Adunno…maybe that’s not even a proper sentence. Probably isn’t. But ainokea…last year was chaotic and frustrating and scary…and I hope this year won’t be a repeat, but I’m concerned that it could be even worse. However, that said, I hope this little bloggie will be a respite from all of the negative stuff that’s on the news and social media. My hope is that my photos will bring joy, peace, and even amusement to everyone who sees them. Anyway, cows and hummingbirds on a daily basis can surely be a real antidote to the daily news, right?

January 1st

Daily hummingbird on a really foggy morning.

By the time I went to bed last night the fog was so thick that I couldn’t see any lights across the valley or fireworks. This morning I still couldn’t see across the valley.

This lovely print from Story People seemed to be very appropriate for today.

There were tons of Juncos in the garden today.
Kinda dark, but I still like it.
Chree daily pīpī. I don’t know where Hōkū was.
Kiko. He’s getting so big!

Hummers and cows are a balm to my soul. I love that quote. I will email you a link to a NYT story today about searching for delight. I think that’s what you do anyway. Is Kiko getting darker as he gets older? Here’s to a bright, happy, healthy, and calm 2024.

Wow, I’m so late responding to your comments. Hilahila au! Love the NYT article… mahalo nui. I think Kiko’s going to stay the color he is; I think his dad must’ve been a Hereford.
