Holoholo Kaʻa to Trout Lake 2023 – Chapter Three

Barn!! And a silo, too. We’re heading south on Highway 141, back the way we’d come

Cows for AFK!!

I absolutely love hardware stores, and had this one been open, I would’ve insisted that we go in. But alas, it was closed.

Little Mountain True Value

I’m not sure how we missed this sign on our way north…we saw the south-facing one too late, so I turned around and we went back north and turned east here on Warner Road.

More cows for AFK! This is a very rural area.

We had some lovely views along the road.

There were really pretty views along the way. From Warner Road, first we went North on Sunnyside Road, then turned East on Trout Lake Highway.

Aspen trees!! I love seeing them!

These are glorious Larches…they’re evergreen trees that change to brilliant yellow in the fall before dropping their needles. Aren’t they beautiful?

Larches

The views of the valley below were so lovely; we pulled over a couple of times to take photos.

We were getting up in elevation, too. I love that our GPS shows that.

It was a lovely wooded drive, and there were rarely other cars on the road.

We began to see more larches along the road. They really are brilliant in the fall.

After that lovely drive, we came to the entrance of the wildlife refuge.

The gravel road was well maintained and easy to drive on.

Musubi was enjoying the drive, too.

We came to the parking area after just a few minutes.

Next time, we’ll explore a wonderful old log cabin and see the wildlife. Stay tuned!

Mahalo fo da pipi pitchas! I haven’t seen an outdoor cow in months now. (I see indoor cows every day.) I kept thinking it was Cowboy Lake, not Conboy (lolo me). The fall colors are so beautiful–thank you for taking us along!
