September Photos

It was a lovely month!

We got a koi for our pond, and the goldfish was checking him out.

I found Dory at the fish store where we went to get koi food!

After a food delivery here, we frequently meet Bernie and his owner. When Bernie hears us coming, he keeps looking back at us because he knows we give him treats! He won’t walk straight until we’ve stopped next to him and given him his treats.

I always love seeing this old pickup in the summertime.
Red barn on Borges Road.
Mystery dahlia tuber from Olson Farms all grown up!
Sunset over Sunshine Valley

Oh wow!! After driving to Carson, Washington, we stopped at Stevenson to see the kite surfers, and there was this amazing Rolls Royce!! Check out the snake horn (at least I think that’s what it was). What an amazing work of art!

Oh yeah… the kite surfers!

Back home to the daily hummingbird and dahlias.

Another lovely September sunset.
Spinnin’ on the lānai.

I was outside one evening and caught this; I think they’re Vaux’s Swifts eyeing our chimneys; they’re goo big to be Swallows. I’ve never seen them here before, and was thrilled!

September sunsets are amazing.
I love these hollyhocks!
Daily hummingbird and dahlias again.
Crepuscular rays shining down over Sunshine Valley.

Glorious dahlias.

We were coming home from Lake Oswego and my van started overheating. We prayed ourselves home, and this is where the engine shut off, right at the bottom of our gravel road. Whew. We called AAA and they towed it to a safer place behind our barn (our repair shop was closed by then).

The next morning, AAA came back and towed the van to the shop. I had a huge heater hose leak, and Cleveland Auto Repair fixed it the same day. So grateful.

Mourning dove outside my office.
And another lovely sunset.

First rain in a long time on my tomato plant.

And that’s a wrap!

I hope this works; Word Press wouldn’t let me leave a comment on your August post. 😞 I love your dahlias, especially the mystery one. They all coordinate with your sunsets!

Well, that’s weird. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks so much for visiting and leaving your comment this month. I love that mystery dahlia, too.

I had to try a second time before it would let me post. I thought I’d made a mistake in my email or screen name, but maybe I hadn’t.

I love your phrase “Back home to the daily hummingbird and dahlias.” And a lovely place it is! Also with torch ginger, trumpet flowers, mourning doves, quails, grosbeaks, juncos, and any number of other wonderful manu and pua.

I love that you got to see the Vaux’s Swifts! I’ve only seen them once–at Chapman Elementary in Portland many, many years ago when G and I were there in the fall. They’re amaaaazing.

How wonderful that you prayed your way home. And how wonderful your kawila got fixed so quickly. Good workers are worth their weight in gold.
