365 Days 2024, December 1-10

December 1st

A frosty morning.
Spinning fluff
I couldn’t choose just one photo!

December 2nd

Another frosty morning and lots of fog, too.
So cold outside! The heat pump hasn’t come on for the day yet.
The cloud looks like a rainbow! Is it a cloudbow?
Daily hummingbird.
Frosty road on my way home from a very, very, early dentist appointment.

December 3rd

Daily hummingbird.
Frosty Sunshine Valley Road.

December 4th

Daily hummingbird.
Our neighbors got their garland up today!
Cute goats.
I used to have one of these every year, but sadly haven’t seen him for a long time now.

December 5th

Food delivery day.
Beautiful Mt. Hood.
We got an estimate from this company today; we have several dead alders that have to come down. Nolemana and Matt talked about what needs to be done.

December 6th

Daily hummingbird.
This was the view from my doctor’s office today. That’s Portland in the distance.
And I love the photos on the wall, too.

December 7th

Growing up in Hawaiʻi, this was never a date that went unnoticed. My folks were watching Pearl Harbor, with all the smoke and destruction. It was a very scary time for them. It’s still interesting to me that here on the mainland, none of my mainland friends seem to give the date much thought. No judgment here…just an observation.

Daily hummingbird.
Low clouds this morning.

And some glorious sunset photos. No way could I choose just one.

I took a video because it was so breathtaking.

December 8th

Daily hummingbird.
I was asked to knit one handwarmer for the friend of a friend. She only needed one.
Cuddly Keola. He’s doing okay still, but he can’t close his mouth because of the tumor. But he’s still acting totally normal. I feel so bad for him.

December 9th

Low-lying fog bank.
Daily hummingbird in the fog.
Nolemana put up our snowflakes today.
My favorite!!

December 10th

Mrs Daily Hummingbird let me get pretty close outside today!

Frosty (and very empty) pasture.
We turn on the lights that Nolemana put up when it starts getting dark.

Poor Keola. I’m glad he was still so cuddly.

I love the colors of your spinning fluff–so cotton candy-like. (Or shave ice-like.)

Your sunset photos are just stunning. And wow, laulau, Mrs. H. really let you get close!

I love that your doctor’s office has all of those bird photos! Did s/he take them?

I’m always conscious of December 7, not just because I’m from Hawai`i, but because my grandmother’s youngest sister turned 11 the day the bombs dropped. The family was living on the windward side of O`ahu at the time, so I don’t know how much they heard and saw. My grandmother was 24 by that time.

Mahalo nui for your comments. I’m really missing Keola so much.

And I love that.. shave ice colors for sure!

I love the rain, but I also love when I can get sunset photos, too. I love our view so much.

I don’t know if my Dr took the photos, but I sure do love them.

We definitely have a shared history about December 7th.
