December 7th
Growing up in Hawaiʻi, this was never a date that went unnoticed. My folks were watching Pearl Harbor, with all the smoke and destruction. It was a very scary time for them. It’s still interesting to me that here on the mainland, none of my mainland friends seem to give the date much thought. No judgment here…just an observation.

And some glorious sunset photos. No way could I choose just one.

I took a video because it was so breathtaking.

Mrs Daily Hummingbird let me get pretty close outside today!

Poor Keola. I’m glad he was still so cuddly.
I love the colors of your spinning fluff–so cotton candy-like. (Or shave ice-like.)
Your sunset photos are just stunning. And wow, laulau, Mrs. H. really let you get close!
I love that your doctor’s office has all of those bird photos! Did s/he take them?
I’m always conscious of December 7, not just because I’m from Hawai`i, but because my grandmother’s youngest sister turned 11 the day the bombs dropped. The family was living on the windward side of O`ahu at the time, so I don’t know how much they heard and saw. My grandmother was 24 by that time.
Mahalo nui for your comments. I’m really missing Keola so much.
And I love that.. shave ice colors for sure!
I love the rain, but I also love when I can get sunset photos, too. I love our view so much.
I don’t know if my Dr took the photos, but I sure do love them.
We definitely have a shared history about December 7th.
