November 8-10
Since Keola went over the Rainbow Bridge, I haven’t had the heart to write a post, and there’s no way I can do that before the end of the year. But I’m going to try my best. The last post I made was about all the cows getting out big time. What a rodeo that was! We were all exhausted after that was all pau.

Instead, we got goats in da road! Our neighbor lets them free graze, which is just fine with us.

This morning, I thought I heard a lot of noise down at the pasture, so I went out on the lānai, and ack! This is what I saw. That didn’t look good. Jake hadn’t told us anything about taking away the cows.

It looked like he and whoever else that was were trying to load up Hōkū and Kiko.

Who obviously didn’t want to cooperate.

But they finally went into the trailer. Can you hear the daily hummingbird on the video?
Bessie and Lani Moo were pretty upset.

How do you explain to the mamas that their babies are leaving?

Jake finished up at the gate. I must admit that I was pretty tearful at this point. I’ve really enjoyed having the cows here (except when they got out), and I hated to see them go. I could also understand where Jake was coming from.
Jake told us later that having four of them in our pasture just wasn’t enough grass for them during the fall and winter, so he’d sold the two calves to someone who wanted to raise them. Lani Moo, Bessie, and I watched them go. See Hōkū’s face in the trailer?

That was the last we all saw of them. Jake waves to me from down there.

Aue! That’s so sad! I know those are Jake’s cows, but I wish he would have told you they were leaving.
Yeah, me too… but I also know he was pretty stressed about the whole thing.
