365 Days 2024, March 16th

Today Nolemana and I drove down to Oregon City to see Willamette Falls full-on with water. There were lots of people there doing the same thing. On the way there, we stopped along Highway 99 to see all the freeway construction/refitting stuff.

From there, we headed down to Willamette Falls; it was a lovely day, full of sunshine, and the falls were gorgeous!

Noisy from traffic right behind me, but enjoy. And try look da log jam!

From there, we drove to Aurora because I wanted to show Nolemana all the miniature daffodils as we entered town. I’d seen them the week before at the Antique Spinning Wheel Showcase.

Aren’t they beautiful? I’d never seen so many miniature daffies all in one place before.

Around the corner is this really cool architectural salvage place; we didn’t go inside today, but I’ve been there before and it’s wonderful! I love this old farm truck.

And this really cool old tractor, too.

When we’re in Canby, we always go home via the Canby Ferry; so after getting some salad rolls at Thai Dish for dinner, we headed to the ferry.

The river was calm, and we enjoyed watching it while we waited for the ferry to come back to our side.

And here it is!

We headed down to the ferry; we were the only car waiting.

We parked right in front! That ramp folds up for the trip across.

And here we go! I always get out of the car to get the full experience, of course. Here’s more information about the ferry if you like read it.

Nearing the shore. I like the ferry because it’s a slow trip across the river. Sometimes we get to see birds flying by or in the water. None today though.

Here’s the view looking downriver:

We stopped after we got off and drove up the hill to take this photo of the ferry at the north side dock.

We headed home along SW Mountain Road; it was a lovely drive and we saw this old barn:

We got back onto I-205 and we stopped at the lookout to see Willamette Falls from the other side; from the lookout, there’s a terrific view of Mt Hood, too.

We met the nicest couple there; they were gonna take a selfie, but we offered to take their photo for them, and they were so pleased to have us do that. They reciprocated by taking ours for us, too.

We had the nicest talk with them about the view and the area, and in these days of chaos in so many areas, it was wonderful to meet and talk with them. It really made our day complete.

K’den… nomo cows or hummingbird today. Neither one/s showed up. But it was still a great day for sure.

Wow! The falls are very impressive. I’ve never seen or heard of them before, so thanks for taking us along! I love taking ferries too, even sma’ kine (there’s one by Cathlamet in Washington that I still remember 20 years later).

I’m so glad you liked seeing the falls. They’re not always this impressive, but early spring lidis they are. See, I knew we’re sisters from anodda maddah… I love ferries so much. Nolemana and I took the Cathlamet Ferry once…to throw a lei into the water heading out to sea as a memorial to my papa-san. It was a very emotional, but good, ride.
