365 Days 2023, Numbah One-Hundred!

( I’m gonna make it!. Racing for the finish!)

December 26th

Kiko, da daily pīpī.
Lani Moo and Hōkū.
Bessie.

Jake and his buddy Jake (we call him Jake2) came over today to clean out the barn. The pīpī thought it was feeding time, obviously. But it wasn’t.

Jake also started burning our burn pile, not realizing that today wasn’t a burn day in Clackamas County. I let him know.

The cows weren’t bothered by the flames; they seemed to enjoy the heat.
Kiko decided that he needed breakfast.
Daily hummingbird watching everything that was going on.

Jake went to get hay while Jake2 was working on the barn, and the two of them drove the pickup in to unload the bales, not an easy job because it’s so muddy. Jake’s eventually going to put gravel down there with a layer of hog fuel ontop.

Way easier than buckin’ hay with manpower only! The fire was dying down, which was good.

December 27th

Daily hummingbird.

Today the two Jakes came over and began to demolish the corral and the old shed. Believe it or not, the people who built our house lived in that shed/house till the main house was built. The shed looked more like a house when we first moved in, but it sure wasn’t anything very fancy. When we moved in, it was used for lambs and sheep.

Daily pīpī watching me drive down the driveway.

The corral is done. Jake had to leave to run some errands, and Jake2 continued working.

At lunch with my friends…this guy had on the cutest slippers!

I made these handwarmers for our wonderful vet and she loved them!

Jake2 was demolishing the shed now. The pīpī were very interested to see what was going on. Kiko, however, wasn’t concerned. He can eat anytime.

Jake came back later, and of course, the cows thought it was time to eat; they recognized his pickup.

Now the shed is almost done.

The guys started a new burn pile to be burned in the spring.

December 28th

Food deliveries today.
Jake and Jake2 were back to finish up.
We highly recommend Jake for all kinds of work. He is amazing!
Daily pīpī.
The new burn pile.

The line taking electricity to the barn has been broken for years and we haven’t been able to find the break. So today Jake worked on trying to find it. When the cows saw Jake, they of course began mooing for food.

It sure looks different without the shed there.
It’s a giant burn pile. I’m actually glad to have the shed down because sometimes coyotes have been using it as a nursery.
Daily hummingbird.

December 29th

Daily hummingbird.
An amazing woodworker on NextDoor made this lovely yarn bowl for me!
I finished this hat for a special gym friend… had to take better photos of it.

I finally made it back to the gym after a 2-week absence; and these two kolohe buggahs were there to greet me.

The pīpī stayed in the barn all day long today.

December 30th

Another lovely foggy morning.

We made a trek out to Bob’s Red Mill today; I haven’t been there in so long, and it was a great excursion. I love this water wheel so much! Love that Bob’s statue is out there, too.

Volume up to hear the water.

They were having a 4-package box sale, and the shelves were loaded with them. We got 2 of their 10-grain hot cereal…it’s weird, because all the grocery stores around here didn’t have any anymore. The store was very crowded, but the customers were friendly and happy, and so were the checkers, so it was a pleasant experience.

On the way out I took a photo of this wonderful millstone.

On the way out, we saw this interesting vehicle. What would the Army use this for?

Such a lovely sunset tonight!

Pau kaukau, we drove to Troutdale to look at Christmas lights.

We go to this place every year; it’s amazing what all the neighbors have done.

I adore this lion!!

On the way home, there was a lot of ground fog.

31 December

Daily hummingbird and his Junco friend on a very foggy morning.

Our foggy view was so beautiful this morning.. enjoy!

See the setting moon?
Panorama photo. It’s hard to see the pīpī. So here’s a cropped photo for you.

I happened to see this through our kitchen window, the sun shining through the fog, so I went outside to snap a couple of photos…so beautiful! I love the way the sun’s rays are coming through the trees!

The final daily pīpī photo of the year.
And the last Christmas lights for the year, too.
Last photo of our neighbors’ lovely decorations.
Last of the Christmas lights across the valley, too. And the last photo of the year.

Well, that’s a wrap for 2023. As always, mahalo nui loa to you, my faithful followers, for joining me in this entire year’s journey though photos. I’m so grateful that you follow this humble bloggie. I so appreciate your comments and encouragement! Happy New Year and best wishes for a wonderful 2024 to all of you.

Cheeehoo, you made it! Choke videos, dis time. That light display is soooooo impressive. Sma’ keed time, we lived above a Candy Cane Lane. I still have memories of listening to the Chipmunks while trying to do my math homework. I love knowing that Bob’s Red Mill has an actual mill that you can visit! I love their stuff, esp. since I have to eat gluten-free, so I’m gonna try visit it some day. I also loved watching da pīpī run toward Jake, expecting some grindz!

Hau`oli Makahiki Hou, Moki-chan! Thanks for letting us ride shotgun with you all time.
