365 Days 2023, Numbah Sixty-Nine

September 11th

Yes, I still remember what I was doing that awful day. Leilani, our daughter, woke us up telling us to immediately go turn on the TV. We sat there in horror, watching the plane hit the second tower, crying for all the people trapped in the building.

I’m grateful that I can focus on the beauty around me today.

Daily hummingbird.

Nolemana had a doctor appt today and I was his designated driver (he’s fine).

But afterwards, since it was kinda sorta on the way home once I realized how close were were to it, I kinda sorta insisted that we stop by Funbonn. I haven’t been there in years, ever since the pandemic began, and there was stuff I really wanted to get. No kinda sorta about it…I needed it!

There are plenny little shops on the way to the supermarket.
On the way home, we stopped to take photos of our neighbors.

This was my small kine haul: fresh lychee (never dreamed I could still get them this time of year!), dried shrimp for ramen, kamaboko, sushi ginger, fresh coconuts, and best of all, ume!!

And oh yeah, this raisin bread. My hānai braddah, Ed, (rest in aloha, my friend; oh, how I miss you!), and I used to get these loaves every time we went to Uwajimaya, often about five loaves each at a time. At least that many. I get wai maka thinking about it, tears going down my cheeks and I munch away a little a time, his memory in my heart and mind.
Daily pīpī, Lani Moo and Hōkū.

I miss Ed too. Dat kolohe buggah. I used to call him “the older brother I never wanted.” What I would give to have him hassle me again today.
