365 Days 2023, Numbah Forty-Two

July 4th

The surprise for AFK came sooner than I thought it would! So here it is, my friend. We now have a new category for dis humble blog. U like know wat? K’den. It’s….

…Da Daily Pīpī!!!

Yeah!!! We are now boarding chree pīpī! Da mama, her yearling calf, and her new calf. It’s been so hard to keep this secret, but I didn’t want to say any kine until it was definite. Jake and Sarah brought over the chree cows today. Here’s Mama and her yearling heifer just coming out of the trailer.

None of them have been named yet.
Then the baby comes out.
Oh, the mooing that has been going on today! I’m sure she’s saying, “Hui, AFK!!!” They all wandered all the way up to the top of the hill and started munching on alder leaves.

Sound up!

We’ve only had horses here, except for a cow a long, long, time ago, and it’s kinda fun having the cows here now. Jake and Sarah are such a neat couple, and we’re gonna enjoy getting to know them, too.
More holoholo across the pasture.

There has been a lot of mooing today.

You know, it’s been fifteen years today that my mom died, with me trying desperately to get down to California before she did (I didn’t make it). So it’s been a bittersweet day for me. But having these cows here, knowing how much joy it’ll bring to AFK, makes the whole day so much better. Enjoy, my special sista!

I’m so glad you like it!! Sara named da mama cow…it’s Bessy. And she woke me up at 6:30 with her very loud mooing. Then another cow down the road started mooing to her. It went on for about an hour. I hope the neighbors don’t mind.

And yes, Jake is the same guy who mowed our pasture. We’d asked him if he knew anyone who needed to board animals, and he said he’d love to get a couple of cows and do that himself.

Mahalo for da beeeeeg hugs…. I so appreciate dem!
