Lullaby Rain

This evening we got a sudden downpour; we hadn’t realized that the drainpipes were clogged until we saw this. Try look all the water coming out of the bottom of the pipe!

Where I grew up, in Mānoa Valley on Oʻahu, it rained a lot, and many times at night.  I can remember listening to it on the tī leaves outside my bedroom window and falling asleep to the melody.  One time, getting off the bus in Waikīkī, I stepped from sunshine into a rain shower, just like that.

I have always loved the rain.  I love the sound of it, its fresh aroma, the way it patters on the foliage around the house.  I would be totally happy if every summer, for a week, weʻd get rain, keeping everything fresh and clean.

Rain is a lullaby to me. Its song sings to me, comforts me. It reminds me of home.

I feel the same way (but not from growing up in HI)!

I think I’m in the minority about the rain so it’s good to know I’m not alone. So many people in the PNW are unhappy when it rains!

I, too, love the rain. Kinda have to, living in the PNW. I love to hear the rain as I’m falling asleep, but it’s too cold for most of the year to have windows open when it’s raining. Rain is nurturing, comforting, and healing.

Yes, it is definitely that. I especially love rain now because of the wildfire danger. I leave windows open but pile on the blankets!
