So yesterday my spinning wheel came back to me! I’d talked to Kyle at Paradise Fibers and he told me it was all pau and he was just getting ready to ship it back to me. So, not only did he fix what was broken, he also replaced a bushing, three bearings, and a piece that goes on the bottom of one of the legs! He just did it because he knew the wheel needed the restoration, and he told me that now it spun perfectly.
I eagerly awaited the UPS truck, and it showed up when I wasn’t home. Nolemana called me to let me know it was here and he very kindly (cuz he no like get karanged, yeah?) didn’t open the box. He knew I’d want to do that myself.
Kyle saved shipping costs for me by using the same box and same peanuts I’d used myself. Nice, yeah?
So when I got home, Nolemana very carefully slit the strapping tape along the top.
First we had to put a whole bunch of peanuts into a couple of bags so they wouldn’t land all over the kitchen floor. And then, we could see this.
Anden this:
Very carefully Nolemana began to lift her out of the peanuts.
Almost all the way out! I could tell right away that she was looking much better than when she left.
I put the drive band on her and took her into the living room. My back was really hurting from spinning for the weekend at the Antique Spinning Wheel Showcase (more about that later) so I didn’t sit down to spin, but I did try treadling a little bit, and oh my gosh! The wheel has never ever spun so smoothly before! It was like getting a brand new wheel! She’s quiet, and not wobbly like before, and I can tell that spinning will be pure pleasure on this wheel.
Try look. Before:

I am so jazzed!!! The wheel always spun really well before, but it was a little noisy. Now her arthritic joints have been all fixed, and she’s like brand new again!!
Mahalo nui to Kyle at Paradise Fibers! He took it upon himself to get my wheel working perfectly and at a very reasonable price. Now I can ply my singles again. So more photos coming later! Whoot!!
Oooooh, I really like dat guy Kyle!

Your wheel had joint replacement surgery! Woohoo!
