February 11

Today as I got back into my car after I was pau with my workout at the gym, I decided that the dashboard of my car would be the photo of the day. From left to right: A sand dollar that I’m bleaching, a dancing hula girl and dancing snowman, and Musubi. The rain on the windshield kind of added to the photo. I love the contradiction of the hula girl and the snowman.

In case you don’t know who Musubi is, he’s a very special creation of my friend Clare, who makes wonderful things over here at Stuffed With Aloha. She created Musubi in 2008, and sent him to be a comfort to me after my mom died for the memorial service; he’s small enough to fit into my purse or pocket, where I could touch him and feel the aloha.

Since then, he has traveled with me everywhere. I adore him. Usually he faces out, but the the photo, I wanted everyone to be able to see his adorable face. There have been many times when I’ve had a tough day that I just cuddle him up against me while I’m driving.

He’s been to California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming with us, and on our first Montana trip, he got to see Clare once again.

Anyway, that’s today’s photo along with its story.

Awww, you know, so much of our life is left out of photos. Look at the details that you get to look at every day, or whenever you get in your car. That stuff, all the little details are all a part of who you are. So yes, I appreciate seeing these things as well. Thank you for including them.
