Hand Warmers

My hands are always cold in winter. We keep our house pretty cool, and here in my office my desk is right in front of a sliding glass door. Yes, it’s thermal. But my hands still get cold. So I decided to knit myself a pair of handwarmers.

I went to Designer Yarn and got some pure alpaca for warmth. I got the pattern from Sherrie; I liked it because I didn’t want the warmer to go up my thumb since I’m at the computer so much.

I also decided to put beads at the top like Sherrie did. And I worked fast on them and am very pleased with the results. And my hands are warm!

I used size 8 beads and a teeny crochet hook to pull the yarn through the beads. I didn’t want to bother with stringing the beads onto the yarn, so dropped the stitch off, then pulled the yarn through. I like that method!

Now if only I could find them!

Next day: I wen find um!

I’ve had requests to show photos of the handwarmers on my hands, so hea u go!

I’m glad I found ’em… it’s really cold today!

Ooooh, be-u-ti-ful! What a great idea! I’ve made several pair from Melanie Falick’s book – some shaping but all garter stitch…so easy!
Made a pair for a writer friend of Paton’s Camen – they look like fur. When I wear my pair of Carmen hand warmers at school the little ones keep looking to see if it’s something alive – fun.
the beads are a great idea. So…pull the loop of stitch through bead & then put back on needle to knit it? did you knit really loosly for that row?
    Thanks,
