Since I’m on staff at Alohaworld and active on the message board, I get to meet a lot of new people. And one person has come into my life who has blessed me with so much aloha from across the ocean.
Haumana and I have become instant ‘ohana. We have so much in common, and there was a spark between us from the very beginning. She lives on Kaua‘i and works at Kapaia Stitchery. She is an amazing quilter, and does absolutely lovely quilts.
I had posted some photos on the Lanai of my fabulous awapuhi melemele.
Well, Haumana saw the photos, and asked me if she could use the photos to make something for me. Now, keep in mind, we didn’t know each other before this.
I told her “sure”, not knowing what she had in mind. And not even two weeks later, she told me to get a 20″ pillow top… your surprise is on it’s way!”.
I bought the pillow top and a few days later went to the PO, ripped open the box that had arrived, and was totally speechless. then I began to cry. I couldn’t believe that my new sistah who had never met me before had made me such a thing of beauty. Our emails have been flying back and forth ever since, not to mention boxes of goodies from each side of the ocean.
Look at this fabulous pillow top!! She took my photos and put them together with wonderful Hawaiian fabrics, including the mokihana and maile fabric up there on the top and the sides and all over!!!
I know that ke Akua sent Haumana into my life during a time when I was really in need of something special to brighten my days. And I didn’t just get a pillow top; I am blessed by this special friend and a special friendship.
