A Loaf of Bread, A Cup of Wine and Thou?

Well, not exactly.  More like a warm chocolate chip cookie (for Snowflake), a 20-ounce, raspberry mocha (decaf, double shot, extra hot – for me), a marionberry scone and a caramel latte (for Julie), Chai tea and a scone (for Umeki), three special friends… and… the sweater for Nolemana.    ‘Round and ’round I go, increasing 4 stitches every other row.  Sometimes I wonder if I’m getting anywhere at all.  It takes a lot longer to get around the sweater now, and I’ve got a ways to go before I can put the sleeve stitches on stitch holders while I do the body of the sweater.  But it’s easy knitting, and I don’t have to concentrate too awfully much so long as I remember to do the increases.

I love my Saturday afternoons with my friends.  We have all known each other less than five years, but in that time we have forged bonds that would be hard to break.  We talk and knit, and share our frustrations, joys, and sorrows with each other, the steam from our cups rising like the sweet aroma of our friendship.  Knitting this sweater may seem tedious at times, but in the company of my friends, it goes faster than it would if I were alone.

The sweater grows, and our friendship grows.  It is a sweetness to my soul.
