Holoholo Kaʻa to Trout Lake 2023 – Chapter Five and Pau.

We left the Wildlife Refuge and headed back along Trout Lake Road, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the lovely larches. I thought we’d taken videos of driving along the road, but I guess we didn’t. Cuz I can’t find them!

We saw this cool old log house along the road; it didn’t look occupied, though. As always, I wondered what stories those walls could tell.

Try wait! We drove a tiny bit further…it definitely looks more occupied here.

Beautiful barn!!

Contrasted by this broken down one.

Another old barn:

And pīpī!!!

Hello there!! Moooooooo!!

And another barn! Talk about stories they could all tell!

We crossed back over a creek; I’m not sure the name of this one.

A plethora of Larch photos:

Heading south on the highway.

Very blurry photo of BZ Corners. Next time we’ll definitely stop here.

Entering BZ Corner

Beautiful fall colors; this really was a great time for a road trip.

We’re almost to Husum and just about to cross the White Salmon River again.

Ho da blurry!! Stevenson is about 19 miles, I think. Or maybe 190? LOL! The sign shows Stevenson, North Bonneville, and Vancouver. However many miles away they may be.

The Columbia River.

We’re on State Route 14, heading makai.

Twin (blurry) tunnels. One’s for the trains.

We made a quick stop at this boat ramp near Stevenson.

Train!

All the photos of us crossing into Oregon over the Bridge of the Gods came out blurry, so I’m not gonna post them.

Now we’re on Interstate 84 in Oregon, almost home.

It was too dark to take more photos. Thanks so much for tagging along with us on this adventure!

Mahaloz fo da pīpī pitchas! My favorite kine too–they look like Holsteins.

So beautiful, the larches. Thank you for teaching me about them. If I had seen them without your telling me, I would have thought they were dying. :-\
