As we were leaving Rowena Crest, we took this video. You can hear the wind! These folks were braver than we were for sure.
We turned east for a little bit after leaving the parking lot. In past trips, we’ve gone all the way down this way to The Dalles, but decided not to do that today.

We turned back makai; check out these cool rock formations.

I had Nolemana take a video, but there’s so much car noise! Turn down the volume, moa bettah.
Looking across the Columbia River Gorge into Washington State.

There was lots of Arrowleaf Balsamroot everywhere. This is looking over the Tom McCall Nature Preserve, just makai of Rowena Point.

Driving just a little distance, we could see this amazing gorge cut into the rocks. And see that house down there? I wish I knew where to drive to get on that road down there.

Old barn!

I’m so glad we didn’t miss the wildflowers today!

We took a bunch of photos of the Columbia River and the Gorge on our way back down.

This gigantic lilac bush was sure something to behold. I really wanted to pick a bunch of them, but they weren’t mine!

There were lots of whitecaps on the river.

Barge!!

Train!

The further makai we got, the river changed; instead of whitecaps, the river was like glass.

Pretty clouds at the end of our drive.

I hope you enjoyed riding shotgun with us on this mini-road trip. It sure was a lovely day! I so appreciate having you tag along with us.
