January 21-25

January 21st

Tree-trimming on Sunshine Valley Road.
I’m so grateful for the workers who put de-icer on our roads all night long to make it safer for us during the day.
It’s still standing!
This is all the wood from our trees that we’re giving to a friend in need.

January 22nd

Glorious Wy’east when I left The Gathering today.

January 23rd

Daily hummingbird.
Food delivery day.

This is Bernie, the Bernese Mountain Dog we frequently see during one of our food deliveries. He knows we always have treats for him. If he sees us coming, he pulls his owner along to meet us. And if we come up behind him, he’s always stopping and looking back to watch us approach.

Downy Woodpecker.

Okay, this is what I was trying to do last time. Kalakoa with her fur puffed out.

And then with her fur all smoothed down. LOL!

January 24th

I love watching the Old Faithful streaming webcam. Today there were bison!

Peek-a-boo daily hummingbird.

January 25th

A whole bunch of geysers going off at the same time.

Daily hummingbird.

Today’s treat: Robins and a Varied Thrush at our pond/waterfall!

I hope you enjoy the video! Turn up the volume to hear some sweet slack key music.

Your place is stunning, mokihana. Bernie and kalakoa look so adorable. I love the trees, the birds, and the logs there. Lucky to live that gorgeous place!

Thank you for teaching me about varied thrushes! They’re supposed to be present in the Seattle area, so I’ll look for them. Whenever I see a bird with a rusty breast, I assume it’s a robin. Then I learned about spotted towhees. Now I’ll have to look closely for thrushes. And how wonderful that you provide fresh water (and food) for all of your bird friends.

I love your before and after Kalakoa photos! Kalakoa seems like a very patient, tolerant cat. And I love that look in Bernie’s eyes, clearly expecting a treat. What a beautiful dog.

I’m so happy you know about the varied thrushes now. They’re one of my favorite birds; have you been able to hear their call yet? It’s absolutely mesmerizing.

Bernie is such a gorgeous dog and I always love it when we meet him and his owner on the road.

Actually, Kalakoa is pretty feisty. When she lays down her tail is always flapping around. She hates to have her nails clipped and is a terror when we do it.
