Fabulous day today! We got to meet up with AFK and G for lunch. We haven’t seen each other for years and weʻd been so looking forward to having lunch together, here:

Our lunches:

Oh my gosh, so ʻono da kaukau! We all had such a fabulous time together, and could’ve stayed talking stories for hours more. This was the highlight of the whole month for me.

I had come to believe the “green flash” was mythical; you’ve proved me wrong!!! Did it annoy you like it did me when they changed the Towhee’s name? 😉
I’ve looked for the green flash for years…so happy I saw this photo! And yes, I was annoyed when they changed the Towhee’s name. Also, they changed the Junco’s name, too! It used to be Oregon Junco. Now it’s the Dark-Eyed Junco. I have no idea why they did that.
Moki-chan, we had *SUCH* a good time hanging with you and Nolemana. Seeing you guys was not just the highlight of our trip to Portland, but the highlight of my month too. We really are sistahs from one noddah muddah!
Like Michelle, I thought someone had made up the green flash! How awesome that Mr. Hayslip managed to capture that.
I haven’t been a birdwatcher long enough to know that the Towhee was once Rufous-Sided and the Junco was once only from Oregon. (Hmmmph. We get ukupilemillion Juncos up here).
LOTS of Juncos, AFK, but we used to be honored with the “Oregon-race Junco.” According to CornellLab’s All About Birds website, Dark-eyed Juncos had been split into as many as seven different species (including Oregon, pink-sided, white-winged, slate-colored, and gray-headed races) before being lumped together under one name.
I didn’t know there had been that many different species. I kinda like all the different names myself.
It was so good to get together after so long for realz! I love having you for a sistah!
Sometimes the Juncos are called snowbirds, because depending on the area, the can disappear for the summer. They are such cute birdies!
