365 Days 2024, January 17th/Icemaggedon – Wednesday

Let’s start out with a video from yesterday. Choke photos today!

March of da daily pīpī…looks like they’re heading up into the forest.
Oh look! It’s almost up to above freezing!
Our view this morning.
Check out the ice on the daily hummer’s perch.
I can barely see the Olsons’ barn; freezing rain is moving in.

Icicles.

Icy branches.
It kinda sorta started to melt. Then stopped.

More kinda melting photos.

Daily hummingbird. I’m still constantly swapping out his feeders.
Our view for most of the day.
You can see the kinda melting here.
Poor frozen I can’t remember what it is.

Uh-oh. Do you see what I see? I don’t even know how they could make it all the way up the steep slope with all the ice!

Lani Moo and Hōkū.

And there’s Kiko. They’re probably up here asking me to call Jake because they’re hungry again. I did. He came by in just an hour. I’m glad his pickup can deal with the ice.

It wasn’t easy losing power and being so cold and not having running water, but as my friend said, “We’re not being shot at and bombs aren’t dropping on us”. Good perspective to have, even when your whole front room is shored up because a tree fell into it.

And this last photo of the day reminded me that even in an ice storm, there is beauty. We may have to search for it, but it’s there.

Aue. So beautiful, but so cold. Poor pīpī. Is Kiko wearing a bell or is he brushing up against your wind chimes? At first when you said “do you see what I see,” I thought it was your letter carrier! (Facepalm)
