365 Days 2023, Numbah Fifty-Seven

I finished these two bobbins for my final spin for the Tour de Fleece/Tour de Femmes. Shetland wool in a lovely colorway called “Island Paradise” from Southern Cross Fibre in Australia.

My spinning buddy today.

Oh my goodness… guess who came all the way up to the top of our driveway!

Daily pīpī.

The flies were ferocious…poor Bessie. I don’t know if you can see the swarm above her shoulder or not…it was huge! Then there were tons more on her back. You might have to go full screen to see them.

I never knew cows would eat blackberries, but I’m sure glad they do!! Right after this, Bessie decided to walk down the incline right below me. You can also see our new retaining wall just below me.

I wasn’t sure if Bessie would have trouble getting back up the incline, but she didn’t. I love horses, and I’ve loved having them here for the past 25+ years, and I miss them. But I must admit that I’m really enjoying having the cows here. I’m sure a lot of that affection for them is rubbing off on me from AFK!

She made it up the hill just fine.

I was so busy with the cows today that I wasn’t able to get a daily hummingbird photo. Ack!!

July 31st

I didn’t think I could update all the posts by today, but I did! Now that Tour de Fleece is pau, I hope I don’t get so far behind again.

Daily hummingbird.
Daily pīpī. The calf is lying down at about four o’clock.

Thank you for da pīpī videos! I’m amazed that the blackberry thorns don’t seem to bother them. Thanks for teaching me about Tour de Femmes–I’ve never heard of it before. Keola looks so comfy.

So happy you like da pīpī photos! It’s my joy to post them each time. Sometimes it’s hard to catch them because they’re up in the forest. I tried picking blackberries today and even the leaves are pokey. I don’t know how Bessie could eat them!
