365 Days 2023, Numbah Thirty-Two

I’m trying really hard to catch up with my 365 days!

May 26th

Blooming clematis. I miss the purple colors this year, but they’re still pretty.

Remember in my last post how the railing was taken down so that the retaining wall could be filled with rock? Well, this is what it looks like without the railing. Scary! Instead of backing up here to turn around and go down the driveway, we turned to the front so that we wouldn’t go falling backwards over the hill!

Cottonwood days.
Memorial Day flags in Sandy.
Clematis and Pyracantha blossoms.
Socks are coming along.
And try look! Usually the Bird of Paradise doesn’t bloom this early, but here it is!

Gonna be spinning this soon…isn’t it beautiful?

May 28th

Guess who else loves the long grass! We’ve had a covey of quail here almost daily. Oh, how I love their topknots!

Another shot of the scary drop-off.
I finished spinning the first 4 oz. of “Desert Sage”.
This will be another fun spin.
This is all I could get of the daily hummingbird! That’s his tail at about five o’clock.

May 29th

Female Black-Headed Grosbeak.
Isn’t she pretty?

Now the guys are making a better trench for the water from the hill to drain into. They’ll lay new pipe and then put the dirt back in.
Can you see both of them? I love that they’re in the pasture.
Cool, yeah? So neat to see that it has a backhoe on it as well as a bulldozer da kine. The crew was so nice, and I took them out a big plate of cookies. They were so surprised and grateful.

May 31st

Daily hummingbird.
The crew had to stop for the day because they ran out of rock. They left everything clean and neat, and have been so gracious to move their rigs when we’ve needed to get out.

I’ve seen this nice man and his doggie at the gym several times and always go over to talk to them. Today, I brought treats for Petra; she’s a real sweetheart.

Another huge pile of rock arrived. Backwards. I really admire that truck driver!
The railing is back on! Whew. The puka still have to be covered with asphalt.

How wonderful that you’re able to grow bird of paradise up here! Speaking of birds, I’m also jealous of your quails. They make the cutest noises. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your construction projects.

I’m so glad I have the bird of paradise, too. I do have to bring it inside for the winter, but it’s worth it. I love the quail, too… Mahalo nui, as always, for stopping by.
