Tour de Fleece…where am I?

Well, here are some TdF collages to document that I really have been spinning during these past buncha days.

Dye Day was fun, but ho da hot. I couldn’t stay all day was so hot.

Stage 14 Collage

Umm.. yeah. My spinning get cat hair in it.

Stage 15 Collage

I like all the reds in this one.  All the reds go good together; that tomato was so ʻono!  And it’s fun to see how the yarn spun up.

Today was a rest day.  Nolemana and I drove up the mountain to do an appraisal, so my collage today was this finished yarn.

The first time I plied this, I wasn’t really happy with it; it was underplied, quite a lot.

So I ran it through my wheel again, which means that I took the finished yarn and added more twist to it.  I’m so much happier with it now.

Before.  Can you see how it’s not very tightly twisted?

But try look now.  See how much better it looks?

Rest Day 2 Collage1

Whew. Tomorrow, the Alps for the riders, and more spinning for me.

Love the “Distant Mountains” colorway. Whew; you’ve spun a LOT! I’ve never added twist to underplied yarn before, but really like the improvement it made in your yarn; I’ll have to keep that in mind!

Thanks so much, Michelle… yeah, I’ve spun a lot and it feels good. I’ve never added twist to underplied yarn before either, but now I’m sold on it. It took almost as long to do it as to ply it because I wanted to make sure my twist angle was consistent, but it was worth it!
