When we get an appraisal request in, we never know exactly what to expect when we do the inspection. This last one really gave us a surprise!

When Nolemana got out to the property, he found out that the owners raise elk! We drive by this property all the time, but have never seen elk out in the pasture as it’s pretty far back from the road. The owners gave us two photos of one of their babies and one of their stud elk so I thought I’d share them with you.

And Papa-san elk. Magnificent animal, yeah?

I have never heard of someone RAISING elk. I must live a sheltered life! ( 🙂 ) They’re beautiful.

  2. I love going to see the elk in Gaylord, Michigan, when visiting my folks’ summer place.

  3. Wow, that is quite a surprise. Are the elk tame – can you pet them?

With wild ones, no. Nolemana didn’t get close to these so we don’t know if they’re petable or not. Would be fun if can!

In Colorado I saw them all the time in the pastures and the meadows in heards.
