I wrote this post in 2007, and am re-posting it today to honor my special friend, Ed, who, as of two days ago, is now playing Hawaiian music, talking stories, and laughing, with Braddah Dennis, Braddah IZ, and so many other local musicians who brought joy and laughter to our lives with their music and kolohe-ness.
Ed and I and his wonderful wife, Kalena, have known each other for more years than I can remember. He was always supportive and was the kind of guy who’d give you the shirt off his back. Local to da max, he was a wonderful musician and friend. My heart is broken, and the world is more empty without him in it.
Rest in aloha, my friend, and a hui hou…till we meet again. ♥♥♥
I’m so sorry for your (and the world’s) loss, Mokihana. ((HUGS))
Thanks, Michelle. Yes, it’s a huge loss to the world. I really appreciate your hugs. ♥♥
I miss dat bolohead kolohe buggah moah dan I can say. Your post was exactly right. He would tease you to death and then help you so you couldn’t be mad at him.
I know wachu mean. I still can’t take it all in, can’t really believe it. I think it’s gonna take awhile. We wanted to make a trip up to take them the kahili ginger bulbs, but he was in strict quarantine. Now I wish I’d done it anyway and waved to him chru da window. He was such a tease but would give you da shirt off his back.
